On 31 October 2023, èßäÖ±²¥ launched its 70th anniversary book titled ‘For All Ages, èßäÖ±²¥ At Seventy’ at the Polytechnic-ITE (POLITE) Staff Appreciation Day. The book chronicles the evolution of polytechnic education in Singapore and encapsulates èßäÖ±²¥'s rich history as the nation's first polytechnic, its achievements, aspirations, and dedication to lifelong learning. The occasion, which was graced by Guest-of-Honour Minister for Education Mr Chan Chun Sing, also marked the commencement of èßäÖ±²¥'s 70th anniversary celebrations.
The èßäÖ±²¥ campus was abuzz this year at our 70th Anniversary Open House. Visitors were treated to school tours to visit our cutting-edge facilities and were thrilled by exciting CCA performances at the Plaza. We also had a very special drone swarming display as part of our inaugural èßäÖ±²¥ Industry & Innovation Showcase. More photos below:
As part of èßäÖ±²¥’s 70th Anniversary, we held a music festival at èßäÖ±²¥. Despite the rain and drizzle, the spirit of those who attended was not dampened. Thousands danced to the music, especially when local artists like Evan Low, Rangga Jones, and Marian Carmel took to the stage. The festival’s aim was to cast a glow on the importance of youth mental wellness and to reinforce that music and mental well-being can go hand-in-hand.

As part of èßäÖ±²¥'s 70th anniversary celebrations in 2024, seven exciting events are lined up throughout the year.
The fourth event featured a Charity Golf at Orchid Country Club, followed by the Gala Dinner, showcasing èßäÖ±²¥'s dedication to supporting two initiatives: financially challenged students in èßäÖ±²¥ and helping other communities in need.
Held on 12 July 2024, close to 1,000 staff, students, industry partners, alumni, donors, friends, and some President’s Challenge beneficiaries attended both events.
More than $2 million in endowed donations were raised for the èßäÖ±²¥ Graduates' Guild (èßäÖ±²¥GG) Education Fund, providing over 100 bursaries of $2,500 annually for students who need financial assistance.
A symbolic $100,000 cheque was also presented to the Guest-of-Honour, President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, for the President’s Challenge to fund social causes.
The Poly50 campus race is an annual tradition started in the 1970s to promote social cohesion and interaction among èßäÖ±²¥ students, staff, and alumni.
This year, about 700 participants signed up to run a 2.5 km relay of 10 rounds. While the race route changes yearly, this year marked the first time the Poly50 race went around the campus.
This was made possible by èßäÖ±²¥'s celebration of a car-free day, which involved closing the roads inside the campus as part of our sustainability efforts. Runners also collected plastic bottles and metal cans during the race and dropped them off at the finish line.
Despite the race ending early due to rain, the event was a success. It brought the èßäÖ±²¥ community together as one entity and bolstered our sustainability efforts across the campus.
